Details on Appliques
I was just out in the warehouse with my tape measure and notepad. We have had several people ask for sizes on the bun feet because those measurements were not in the catalog.
It seemed like a good idea, so I decided to add these before the next edition.
As I was out there, I overheard an interesting conversation between Bob Townsend, our warehouse manager and a customer named Jean Poole.
Jean has hired a man to build her a set of cabinets. He informed her that he was buying the corbels from us. She saw the pictures on our web site, but said “I’m the type of person who has to touch and feel something before she buys it.”
Because we don’t have a showroom, Bob took her out to the warehouse, which is where I ran in to them.
Jean pulled an appliqué out of the box and exclaimed, “the pictures of this piece don’t do it justice!”
Bob responded that it is impossible to capture the depth of the carving with a camera.

I had not thought of this before today, but they might have a point.
We really don’t show how detailed the carving is. Here’s the item she was looking at:

Here’s a closeup:

And an even closer look:

At this point, I’m trying to decide how best to show this in our catalog and web site. If you compare this to the picture of this applique online, it’s a joke.
I guess this just goes to show that no matter how smart we think we are, it’s impossible to think of everything.
