Countertop Brackets

Countertop Brackets

Counter brackets is an alternative term we use to describe the brackets or corbels used to support countertops with overhanging edges such as breakfast bars or island seating areas.  Used in this manner, counter brackets do more than provide functional support as they also provide an opportunity for introducing embellishments to a cabinet project.  If you already have a style in mind you might want to look for suitable counter brackets under a specific design collection category such as “Mission Corbels” or “Basket Weave Corbels.”  If you have not yet settled on a specific style you may view the broad range of designs in one of the many categories found under the “Corbels & Brackets” heading.

Our broad offering of counter brackets is sure to include a style that can add personality to your project.  Counter brackets can also be used for a variety of other applications whether purely decorative or purely aesthetic in purpose.  For example, counter brackets may be used effectively as part of a stove hood design.  They may also be used to create an interesting support for open shelving over doors or around the outside perimeter of an area.  This high perimeter shelving does not need to be restricted to kitchen areas but may be used to create historical references in a dining room or parlor where a plate ledge would be reminiscent of the ledges used originally in Tudor cottages to display platters and dishes.   Also, due to the height of counter brackets, you may use your imagination to create other fantastic pieces.

Counter brackets can be used very successfully in creating one-of-a-kind mantelpieces.  There are beautifully designed mantelpieces from the nineteenth century that can be replicated with two pairs of counter brackets with one pair supporting the mantel ledge and a second pair inverted and flanking the left and right side of the mantel.   A pair of high-styled counter brackets can also go far in providing the support for a breathtaking entrance hall console that can serve as the visual anchor for a large scale mirror.  A pair of brackets can also be used to create a unique setting for a powder room sink that will stand apart from the usual vanity styled sink.
