Massive Savannah | ||
|
#1496 (34 1/2 x 5)
Sure, you thought we named this massive island leg after the Colonial/Victorian town on the seacoast of Georgia, didn't you? Well, okay, maybe we did; but have you ever thought that it might also be named after the grassy area near the tropical rain forests? Near the savanna, the massive trees keep watch over the wetlands and the myriad animals that live there. Those trees are such stately creatures that it seems even nature itself couldn't topple them. Imagine your kitchen a savanna of sorts; a place to go for peace and tranquility. A place for nourishment and drink. A place to congregate and mingle. What better island leg to include in this special area of your home than the Massive Savannah Island Leg?

4 inch Apple Bun w/Hanger Bolt
|
#4402 (4 x 3 3/16)
How many times have you struggled with getting that dowel or dowel screw tightly into a bun foot and then hoped it lasted? Yeah, we've all been there. Well, Osborne Wood Products has the answer. A captured 5/16 hanger bolt is already attached to this charming 4" Apple Bun foot. So now, instead of trying to figure out how to somehow attach a bun foot, we've a clear-cut answer. Just build necessary blocking into the piece so that you can use a captured nut, a tee nut, or make it so as to attach it with a washer and nut from the top side. So much versatility, yet with so much character and grace--the 4" Apple Bun w/hanger bolt.

#4203 (4 1/2 x 3 3/8)
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but what if the doctor that I made a beautiful cherry desk for asked for Square Apple Feet on his desk? Huh, how about them apples? Well, it turns out that this surgeon loves the shape of the apples, but he wanted his desk in his personal office at home to have a more comfortable look; so he chose the Square Apple Foot. The Cherry wood made this desk one of class and the envy of his other doctor friends (I hope to sell them all custom-made desks).

4 1/2 inch Tapered Square Foot
|
#4081 (4 1/2 x 3 1/2)
After taking the time to make my own Tapered Square Foot for a retro entertainment center a couple of years ago, I realized it was time to look for them already made. Have you ever tried to taper something that short? Have you ever tried to keep your hands out of the saw blade? After my last attempt found one of the leg blanks launched across the workshop and landing in the dog's bed, I said "No more! "It is time to find a source." Thankfully, the pros at Osborne Wood Products are set up to do this kind of thing on a regular basis. Kaydee, my Labrador Retriever, will appreciate not being run out of her bed again.

San Francisco Contemporary Corbel
|
#8019 (9 x 3 x 3 1/2)
It was a windy day when I exited the streetcar and made my way into the upscale hotel. There, standing by the doorway to the salon, was my dining companion for the evening. but, something else caught my eye. "What is that magnificent creation?" I thought to myself. Upon further examination, I got my answer. It was a pair of corbels that flanked the opening of the salon entrance. I was taken aback as I learned the name of these wonderful creations. Bearing the name of this adventurous city, the corbels were simply called the San Francisco Contemporary Corbel. I was atwitter with joy upon my new-found discovery.

|
#8088 (12 x 5 1/2 x 8)
Like the city itself, the New York Corbel is big, in your face, and expects to be displayed in a place of prominence in your next woodworking project. At 12 inches tall and 8 inches on top, this larger contemporary corbel deserves a second look. The sleek contemporary styling certainly might find itself more at home in Trump Tower than at the Empire State Building. But, the fact that this corbel has so much potential means it transverses period details. Ornate, yet awe inspiring, this corbel is versatile.

When I first laid eyes on the Florence Bar Corbel, it almost took my breath away. Those beautiful curves with the impeccable carvings made this a 'must-use'. I couldn't wait to get my first project underway with using this corbel. The client was taken aback with the beauty of the bar I had slaved over in my workshop. 4 1/2 inch Square Bridle Foot
|
#4076 (4 1/2 x 3 7/8)
Since most consider the word bridle to mean 'a harness', one might conclude that the two concave lines on our Square Bridle Foot are emulating a bridle of sorts. Or if you are more comfortable with the definition of bridle being 'to harness', then the furniture in place to not let it drift into oblivion. Maybe you like the more obscure definition of 'bridle' being to move quickly as in "This Bridle Foot with its delicate little pads underneath its strong midsection appears to allow my creation to gently glide across the room with the slight touch of a finger." Whatever definition you subscribe to, the Square Bridle Foot may be just the right foot to add that extra dimension to your most cherished item.

4 inch Square Apple Foot
|
#4003 (4 x 3 3/8)
"Teacher's Pet." That is what we used to say to all the kids back at the "Old School" who brought the teacher an apple. Well, this cute little Apple Foot might make the teacher take a second glance. You see, this foot is not round, and although it's about the same size as a real apple, it has a few different characteristics. The 4" Square Apple Foot comes in a variety of species of wood, and rumor has it that it supports the weight of a chest, cupboard, or chair a little better than a real apple would.

35 1/2 inch Massive Wilmington
|
#1709 (35 1/2 x 5)
As we ambled through the door of the B&B something caught our attention. The island in this kitchen was just so perfect in every way. The pale yellow color that must have endured steady use for decades. . . the distressed surface that had seen years of wear. This island must date back to the late 1800's, I surmised. I asked my host at the bed and breakfast where he found such an impressive antique. "Oh, that. I made that last week in my shop out back. How do you like it?" He asked. "Like it, I would pay thousands for that," my wife piped up. "Well, let me get online and place an order for 4 Massive Wilmington Legs in maple from Osborne Wood Products and I'll get started," stated the host and, evidently, master craftsman. This is going to be quite a week, I thought to myself.

Extended Roman Island Corbel
|
#1505 (41 x 7 x 7 1/2)
At a height of 41 inches this Island Corbel takes care of that problem of the 42 inch high island or bar area. This bar-height has always been a problem area. Do I take a standard leg and add blocking at the bottom or do I take a standard leg and somehow piece the top to look acceptable? Well, you know what? Acceptable just isn't good enough anymore. Osborne Wood Products gives 'acceptable' the boot and now replaces that outdated term with 'exactly what's needed'. The Extended Roman Island Corbel is now the perfect leg for that bar or tall island.

Square Islander | ||
|
#1435 (34 1/2 x 3 1/2)
So many islands today are made with a bottom shelf. The choices of legs for this particular application have been, shall we say 'limited'. But now the variety expands due to the work of the designers and craftsmen at Osborne Wood Products. With two squares now on these legs, the opportunity for a stretcher base with a shelf has been addressed. The square styling exhibits the new wave of contemporary design. The Square Islander Leg is already making its mark in the vast array of Island Legs.

Square Husky Farm | ||
|
#1141 (29 x 3 1/2)
Way before there were turned legs, early craftsmen mastered the art of creating gentle curves and coves by using the narrow bow saw and the coping saw. Only later did they discover the tools and develop the art of the turning lathe. This leg embodies the same great characteristics found in the earliest of decorative legs. Those simple basics are immolated today in Osborne Wood Products' Square Husky Farm leg.
