The Chinese are credited with the design of the Cabriole Leg. It was their thought that the leg was most reminiscent of the leg of an animal; therefore, it had special characteristics that blended with nature. It wasn't until the 1700's that the cabinetmakers in Western Europe began using this stylish leg to adorn and support their furniture. It has been a favorite ever since.
