Massive Richmond Island Post Diagonal Half Leg

The Massive Richmond Island Post is - as the name implies - a heavily scaled piece with a large presentation. The weight of the piece, however, is relieved by the symmetrical balance which frames the shaft at top and bottom. Flanked on either end by 5" square blocks that are six inches tall, symmetry is again reinforced by the pair of double ring turns that begin after the square. The shaft of the leg itself is ornamented with deep fluting that serves to emphasize the vertical line. The styling details of this sturdy leg add interesting details without compromising the overall heft of the piece.
