here is a typical table router setup. Determine the position of
the mortise and set the fence and the bit accordingly.
It may be necessary to make several routes, each increasing by
increments the depth. This will allow better control of the leg
and put less stress on the router and bitt. Scrap pieces of wood
clamped to the fence work well for positive stops.
