Learn more about the Fusion Legs

Osborne Wood Products is pleased to announce the introduction of a new Fusion Line of table leg designs. The Fusion Line represent a patent pending design concept that has been in development for some time and has now culminated with the first two products being made available. The design goal was to create a new leg style that combines classical and contemporary aesthetics. The new Fusion Leg achieves this in several ways. The leg designs maintain profiles that reflect traditional origins but avoid a strident appearance by including metal elements as part of the design.

The mixing of wood and metal itself is a design concept that has strong associations in several periods of classical furniture such as the bronze dore mounts associated with formal pieces in the Louis XV style. And gilding, which has risen to favor during numerous periods, is a way of applying metal on wood. The Fusion Line design created by Osborne is more nearly reflected by Directoire pieces, however, where metal mounts were often used at the knee and foot of fluted legs. Even so - no one would confuse a Fusion Leg with any of its antecedents. It is distinc tly twenty-first century.

The first of the two new styles being made available is the Solaris: a tapered leg with an oval metal element between the upper block and the shaft of the leg. The second design is the Electra. The Electra is a four-sided leg with classical shaping that includes a metal component at the knee and foot. Both the Solaris and the Electra will be offered in ten different wood types with a selection of five different finishes from which to choose for the metal component.
