Assembly Instructions

Overall Dimensions: 58” x 16 ¼” x 35 ½”

Materials Used:

Tools Needed:

  • 13mm wrench

  • Drill and drill bit

  • Screws and nails

  • Mallet (optional)

  • Sander/sandpaper

  • Saw

  • Dowels for plugs (optional)

  • Hammer or nailer

  • Staple gun

  • Writing utensil

  • Pocket hole jig

  • Long bar clamp

  • Wood glue (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1 - Design unit

First, take your time and design your shelving unit: length, width, height, interior panels, corner leg posts etc.

Step 2 - Decide on legs and attachment method

Decide how you would like to attach your legs to the corners of your cubicle shelving unit. We decided to go with a varied quarter notch that spanned the height of the cubicles.

Step 3 - Create dados

Once you have your design planned out, cut your dados for all of your panel pieces. You may also want to add pocket hotels to the panels at this point.

Step 4 - Insert interior panels

Insert the interior panels into the dados of your inner shelf. Then, secure them to the shelf with screws using the pocket holes you created.

After securing the interior of your shelving unit, line up and insert the interior panels into the dados of the bottom panel and secure them with screws.

Step 5 - Add side panels

Next, it's time to put the sides on. If needed, use a long clamp to help hold your side panels in place.

Step 6 - Pre-drill and secure

Pre-drill the side panels and secure them with screws.

Step 7 - Add back of the assembly

You will be using ¼” plywood for the backing of your cubicle shelving unit. Place your plywood into the dados you made for the back of the unit and secure with a staple gun or small nails.

  • Be sure to make markings down the plywood where the wood is on the other side so you do not miss your mark.

Step 8 - Pre-drill holes for legs

Leaving the cabinet upside down, pre-drill holes for the legs.

Step 9 - Secure legs

Next, place the legs on each corner of the unit and secure them with screws.

Step 10 - Square up the table top

Square up the table top with the shelving unit, making sure the back is flush. Then, pre-drill holes at each joint.

Step 11 - Screw top down

Finally, screw the top down.

  • You can plug the screw holes with glue and dowels, then sand smooth after the glue has dried.
