Furniture Feet Add Style and Height For An Airy Look
Sometimes we don’t notice furniture feet, but the benefits of adding them to furniture are nearly endless. Check out Osborne’s Apple Round Bun Foot. part 4202 on this tall desk, The desk was crafted by our customer Sam Jewett in Boonville, MO. The feet were a nice complement to the simple styling of the desk, and raised it up to a nice height with a light, airy space below to provide room for feet and make mobility of the furniture easier. Thanks for sharing your photos with us Sam!
You would be forgiven if you don’t really notice furniture feet on a cabinet, a vanity, a sofa or chest. After all, they are way down on the floor, are usually pretty small, and don’t call much attention to themselves. However, you would definitely notice when furniture feet are missing–a chest looks like a massive square block without any furniture feet, and a vanity lacks style without them. And is impossible to stand in front of a vanity without stubbing your feet!
Other reasons to include furniture feet are to provide a visual separation between the floor and the furniture, for a sense of airiness; to allow air to move freely under furniture, preventing the buildup of moisture; to blend with the design of the other furniture in the room; to quickly add or remove height to any furniture item; and to aid in moving furniture around;
Consider adding furniture feet to your next furniture project. Just because your existing furniture doesn’t have feet doesn’t mean you can’t have them! It’s simple, easy and inexpensive.
