Ten-Leg Table Using Osborne's Custom Turnings
We are delighted to share this tale of a ten-leg table with you, as it is so unique and unconventional. Each corner of the table sports two narrow custom legs that are 2″ square, and charmingly connected with rounded aprons. Osborne was happy to work with our friend Wayne Seyler, from Hoover, AL, to custom-make all ten of the legs using Wayne’s turning blanks. Normally a 2″ square leg wouldn’t be strong enough to support this size table, but by joining two legs together in each corner, a strong support is created. The graceful curves at each corner of the table are duplicated in the curved profile of the table top’s rounded corners and result in a truly impressive table design. Wayne wanted to expand the table with leaves in the center so he used our 50″ long Standard Equalizing Table Slide, part # 9063, designed for center support legs, and included two center legs designed to support the extra expanse. The two center legs remain stationary as the top smoothly opens to insert each of the table leaves. Wayne even designed a resting place for the leaves under the table top when not in use. The attention to detail in each component of this gorgeous table is exemplary.
