Sewing Machine Table Turned Fly-Tying Table
It is so inspiriting to see the old made new again, which is exactly what Amy Thornton achieved when she repurposed an antique 1911 Singer sewing cabinet into a fly tying table! Amy used Osborne’s 7/32″ Half-Round Bead Moulding, part 891351. She matched the original bead moulding on the table for a cohesive look. Amy’s mom was a talented seamstress, and her dad was an avid woodworker and fly fisherman, so the sewing machine table turned fly-fishing table was the perfect marriage of all three crafts! Amy was able to apply the delicate bead moulding around the curved corners by heating the delicate beads with a hair dryer–which we didn’t realize was possible! Amy used soft yellow chalk paint on the table, finishing with clear and dark waxes to give a slightly antiqued look. This is such a great restoration and an obvious work of love.
You have to admire the visible attention to detail that includes adorable small fish adorning the top of the table, and the easily accessible fly-fishing tools and needed supplies right on top.
