Osborne Completes GeorgiaBEST Program
Toccoa- GA,- Osborne Wood Products proudly announces the successful completion of the Georgia BEST Program. Nine of Osborne’s employees, including 3 co-ops, received certificates of completion from the Georgia Department of Labor at a first of its kind awards ceremony at the Osborne facility.
Osborne Wood Products pioneered the first ever Georgia BEST program to be completed in the work environment. Georgia BEST(Business Ethics Student Training) involves working with young people to develop ‘soft skills’ needed to be successful in the work place. Starting out in the education sector, Georgia BEST partnered with Osborne Wood Products to bring this training into a real life application setting. Young Osborne employees, including 3 recent high school graduates, participated in the program.
“Three of the Georgia Best participants are recent college graduates,” CEO Leon Osborne explained. “They chose to spend the time between their graduation and first day of college gaining professional work experience here at Osborne.”
These participants were able to enhance their experience through Georgia BEST by learning valuable skills such as: punctuality, productivity, efficiency, and much more in a real life work environment. Participants also attended educational seminars to further develop their skills in interviewing, resume writing, and social media ethics.
Osborne Wood Products is both proud and excited to be a part of this expanding program that is cutting edge. By paving the way, Osborne hopes to assist in creating a stronger work force for our community. “We want the students in our community to know that there are opportunities right here in Toccoa,” explains Leon Osborne. “They don’t need to leave our community to find good jobs, and they can become increasingly qualified for great jobs through this program offered right here at Osborne Wood Products.
