Osborne Proudly Supports Special Olympics
Osborne Wood Products proudly supports and contributes to the Special Olympics of Georgia. The cause is both noteworthy and remarkable, impacting the lives and futures of many throughout our state. The mission of Special Olympics Georgia is:
“To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.”
The Toccoa Special Olympics group visited Osborne Wood Products on Wednesday, February 26th to show their appreciation for the company’s support. CEO Leon Osborne accepted a plaque from the group, featuring event photos and signatures of the participants. The group posed for a photo in the Osborne Show Room.
Leon Osborne expressed the importance of the Special Olympics group by saying, “We have noted that in our community this organization is more than an annual or biannual event. It is a 12 month a year endeavor to strengthen those who are overcoming physical and mental challenges. This group helps in enabling wonderful athletes who have challenges to overcome remarkable obstacles. We have been a financial supporter of this organization as we have appreciated what they contribute to our community.”
Osborne Wood Products continues to support the Special Olympics group of Toccoa, GA. Leon Osborne adds, “I think others who decide to support Special Olympics, whether with their time or their money, will find that they are helping a dedicated group of young people who do not give up, but overcome in spite of the obstacles that life has presented to them. It is inspiring. These youth achieve where many would give up. With observing and working with them, our perspective of difficulty changes, our understanding of what is challenging is upgraded, our understanding of what is possible is broadened and the result is that our own lives are enriched. I would recommend that others become involved in Special Olympics, not only to contribute to our home town community, but to experience God’s grace in your own lives.”
