Osborne Employee Celebrates 40th Work Anniversary

On June 25, 2025, one of our craftsmen celebrated their 40th work anniversary. Tim Smith started working with Osborne Wood Products, Inc. right out of high school. He actually lived in Pennsylvania at the time and had a few of his own entrepreneurial jobs ongoing. He had always enjoyed hands-on work and was motivated from a young age. At the age of 12, he learned how to use chainsaws and other machinery while living on a small farm. He also worked with wood from time to time which made the opportunity at Osborne a natural fit.

Leon Osborne was looking to expand his workforce and was introduced to Tim by his sister.
“I think we spoke once on the phone before I moved across the country. We both gave each other a chance,” Tim explained. “I started helping with a few cabinet jobs and then we transitioned into furniture.”
Leon, Tim and a few others worked together on the shop floor building furniture. It was a small operation at that time. Tim recalled unloaded bundles of lumber from the truck by hand right onto the shop floor and then using that to start working on the next project. The work was enjoyable but it was not the only thing that persuaded Tim to stay with Osborne all these years.

“I always wondered if this was the best place to be and if it is what I should be doing for work. There were times I had other opportunities that may have been better in the short-term financially but I always decided not to pursue them after thinking it through,” Tim said. “A lot of that had to do with Leon and his personal values. His relationship with the Lord and commitment to employees are significant. I always felt understood and knew that a company like this was where I wanted to be.”
Many things have changed over the last 40 years, but Tim shared that the personal interactions he has had with Leon and his team members have been his favorite moments.

“Being able to work side by side with someone to make something good, while enjoying what you are doing, is rewarding. It is not just about the good products, but also the good company and community that has been built,” he said. “The same goals, business philosophy and work ethic that was instilled in me when I first started is still part of the company today. There has always been a drive to be the best you can be everyday.”
Currently, Tim works as a machine operator and is often seen on our YouTube channel showing viewers how to create stunning projects at home. His dedication to the company is unmatched, and it is a pleasure to be able to still work alongside him.

“God has blessed me in a lot of ways through this company. I have been able to support my family, raise four kids and put them all through college thanks to this job. All of that started here and I am very grateful,” Tim shared.
Join us in celebrating this incredible accomplishment and wishing Tim all the best in the years to come! Our team is grateful to have him as a member!
