Osborne Participates in OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training
Toccoa, GA – Osborne Wood Products, a growing local company, puts safety at the forefront of business. Continuing with the company’s ‘Safety Always’ initiative, Osborne kicked off the spring with a thorough safety training for all leads and managers.
During the month of March, over one-third of the company’s employees took part in the OSHA 30-hour training workshop. Led by Brad Cagle (Safety/Technology Instructor at North Georgia Technical College) and hosted at the Osborne Facility, members of other community businesses were also invited to participate.
Osborne’s Executive Assistant, Joshua Lillie, was responsible for facilitating the events. Lillie mentioned, “Osborne’s entire management team, as well as our lead workers on our shop floor, participated in this training program. Also taking part were our friends from G-M Wood Products INC, from their Eastanollee plant.”
Safety is a top priority for Osborne Wood Products. This safety training allowed representatives from each department to effectively identify potential risks in order to maintain Osborne’s culture of safety, efficiency and caring.
Safety topics covered included: an introduction to what the Occupational Safety & Health Administration is and does, an overview of Safety & Health Management, information on Fall Protection, and Walking-Working surfaces. Safe material handling, Personal Protective Equipment, and safety walk throughs of the shop floor were also included in the program.
In addition to personal workplace safety, managers also received extensive training on hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens, along with various other health related topics. The goal of this extensive and thorough program was to provide an efficient and safe work place for all employees at all times.
“In promoting a culture of safety, the more personnel effectively educated on hazard recognition and avoidance, workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and the value of safety and health to workers, the more we benefit as a company. Providing this training to both upper management and our floor workers, we hope to perpetuate this culture effectively in all departments, even the ones that do not perceive immediate risk,” Lillie stated.
Osborne Wood Products is a proud member of Stephens County, working as a manufacturer and supplier of unfinished wood and metal components. Osborne serves customers locally, as well as internationally.
