Introducing Pilasters and Panels
Lane Taylor, Marketing Assistant at Osborne Wood Products introduces one of the newest product lines at Osborne: Pilasters and Panels. Though seemingly different, these two product types fit seamlessly in a kitchen design. Both products add an unrivaled amount of detail and perfection to the space, allowing the homeowner total control in the intensity of the design. Simple styles, delicate carvings, and subtle curvature are just a few options offered in the product category.
Pilasters:
A natural progression of the interior column is that of the pilaster. Pilasters are a type of column, whether half round or flattened, built into or applied to the face of cabinetry. The piece slightly projects from the surface to which it is applied to add strikingly gentle features, texture, and detail. Pilasters are available in many shapes and sizes, making them a versatile choice for many applications. Thin, flattened pilasters may feature a fluted pattern, running partial or full length of the piece. Corbels, appliques, and other fixtures also adorn these magnificent pieces. Truly fascinating and majestic, pilasters are a perfect addition to any kitchen design.
Cabinetry Panels:
Frame and panel construction (often times referred to as rail and stile construction) is a woodworking technique used in creating cabinet and furniture doors. Instead of using one solid piece for the entire door, many woodworkers choose the options of a ‘floating’ panel, or decorative piece surrounded by a frame. The frame consists of a top and bottom rail and two side stiles. Typically the panel will be positions as either a flat or raised panel. Flat panels are set flush with the front grove of the frame. This gives the panel an inset look. A raised panel will be flush with the actual frame. Regardless of style or position, beautiful decorative panels, such as the pieces offered by Osborne, are a perfect addition to any cabinet door.
