Many times the terms fluted and reeded get confused and are mistakenly used interchangeably. Fluting refers to a groove or a flute being carved into the column itself whereas reeded refers to small half-round reeds molded into the column. They are basically opposites in design, but both give long straight lines to a column to create the illusion of added height. This Fluted Half Dowel Molding can be coupled with Osborne Wood Products 7100 10 inch half end, 7101 5-1/2 inch end, 7102 Half spool and the 7103 Small Cap Onlay to create a full column effect.
