What Are Your Standards for Rustic Alder?

Osborne craftsman carefully create your turning using knotty alder wood. When placing pieces of lumber and preparing them for turning, a craftsman must maintain the following standards:

  • Sapwood is allowed to appear in Rustic/Knotty Alder
  • Square should contain at least 2 knots that are 3/4" or greater
  • Only a hint of bark is acceptable
  • Clean board will not be visible through the knot unless there is less than 1/4" visible board
  • Knots can not reduce the contact area between the product and what the product is connected to
  • Knots are not to exceed 1/3 of the diameter of the turned leg
