| Brief History: The Shaker design dates back to the eighteenth century. A religious group, known as "The Shakers," believed that work and religion went hand in hand. One of their various mottoes stated: "Do all your work as if you would live a thousand years and as if you might die tomorrow." Today, the Shaker name lives on, particularly in the furniture they created. The Shakers exhibited amazing craftsmanship in their work. They also had a keen sense of proportion and were committed to the beauty of keeping things simple. These simplistic square designs are the perfect complement to any style room! |
