Osborne Builder's Studio: DIY Farmhouse Plant Stand
In this video we show you how to build a DIY farmhouse planter stand using table legs from Osborne! This project is super simple and cost effective. It is a great project for your own home or as a gift for a lived one.
What we used:
English Country End Table Legs (Part #1230)
13/16" Pre-Glued Edge Banding (Part #251355)
Other tools needed:
| • Table Saw | • Band Saw/Jigsaw | • Miter Saw |
| • Drill/Driver | • Hot Iron | • Tape Measure |
| • Straight Edge | • Drawing Compass | • Wood Glue |
| • Screws | • Sander | • Wood Finish |
Step 1
Measure and cut a 1/2” plywood panel to an 18” x 18” square (or desired size). Lightly sand the edges and use a compass to draw a circle that reaches the edges.
Step 2
Cut along the traced circle using a band saw (or jigsaw/router). Lightly sand the edges smooth, keeping the sander parallel to avoid damaging the veneer.
Step 3
Divide the circular base into three equal sections using a straight edge and compass marks. These divisions will be used as reference points for positioning the legs.
Step 4
On each leg, measure 5” down from the top block and remove half of the block to create a notch. Sand the cuts smooth with 150-grit sandpaper for a clean fit.
Step 5
Align each leg with your layout lines and trace the shape of the modified top block. Cut out these notches using a band saw for a seamless, custom fit.
Step 6
Apply wood glue to the leg notches, position the base on top, and secure the legs with pre-drilled screws. Use matching wood plugs to conceal screw holes for a polished finish.
Step 7
Apply Osborne’s pre-glued edge banding with a hot iron, trim excess with a razor blade, and lightly sand flush. Complete the project with your choice of stain or finish.
