TV Console Table Fashioned With Flexible Tambour Panels
The rise in popularity of tambour panels in the last year has been just short of epic. Not only are the panels attractive to look at but they are versatile enough to be used as wall coverings, sliding doors, cabinet fronts, and curved surfaces. Notice the beautiful curves on this elegant console table that was built with Osborne's Single Bead Flexible Tambour Panel, part 100653. A big shout-out and many thanks to Rebecca Relford and her husband JR from Myrtle Beach, SC. for sharing this photo of the console table built with Osborne's tambour panels.
We love the graceful curves that are easily formed with this flexible material. The combination of curves and repeated rows of narrow, rounded boards neatly lined up next to each other is truly eye-catching. And the cute little cubby in the center of the table is the perfect storage space for TV devices.
Osborne offers 12 different tambour styles in five different wood types. All styles are mounted on a flexible backing that allows for installation on flat or curved surfaces. Each panel is 12 inches wide and 48 inches tall. The depth of each panel varies based on the style.
Tambour wood is having its moment in the spotlight, and for good reason. The classic and sophisticated look of tambour adds visual interest and depth to any space, and it’s extremely versatile, fitting in comfortably with most interior design styles.
If you’ve been in the market for a surface that showcases character, flexible tambour panels could be what you’ve been looking for.
How Tambour Panels Are Made
Each strip of wood is first measured and cut to size. The strips are then laid on a fabric or mesh backing. This process is what makes flexible tambour so masterful at wrapping around corners and curves.
A strong adhesive is used to attach the slats so they stay in place. The final step is to trim the panel, and it’s ready for use in a wide range of projects!
