Pedestals & More

The wood pedestal is a stately item. Combined with its coordinating table feet, makes for a wonderful table to be enjoyed for eons to come. The classic eight-sided, octogonal, wood pedestal exhibits the strength traits of trestle bases of old, but brings along a new style that makes the wood pedestals in the traditional height of 24 1/2 inches as well as the newer height of 34 1/2 inches to accommodate your every need. The eight-sided glued-up blank is painstakingly turned and sanded to give you the finest wood pedestal in the industry. See our cabriole table feet (also called cabriole legs) to complement your wood pedestal. Remember slight variations in height can be adjusted by the placement of the cabriole table feet onto the wood pedestal.
Unfinished wood pedestals are ready for your project!

Pedestal Center

Pedestal Center, from the Pedestals and More line #1420 (24 1/2 x 8)

In Shaker times, the wood pedestal table center was just an eight-sided box with the joinery, shall we say, lacking. But today at Osborne Wood Products, we have come to realize that our discerning customers have come a long way in determining the current styling of this magnificent pedestal. Our advances in joinery have virtually eliminated any cracking while our craftsmen who turn these huge centers have mastered the art of working on large bulky pieces to the point that each one is a work of art.

When coupled with the Cabriole Foot, this pedestal finishes at 29 inches tall. This is adjustable.

Extended Pedestal Center

Extended Pedestal Center, from the Pedestals and More line #1520 (34 1/2 x 8)

While I was sitting in the Java Station at the small round table, I noticed how much I enjoyed the feeling of being a little higher than I would be at a regular table with conventional chairs. This feeling was not left at the coffee shop; it followed me all the way home. Throughout the day, I kept thinking about the possibility of having one of those lovely tall tables in our breakfast room. I was dallying around online and found this extended pedestal center at http://www.osbornewood.com. Today we have a timeless pedestal table with four outstanding bar stools gracing our checkerboard tile floor.

Cabriole Pedestal Foot

Cabriole Pedestal Foot, from the Pedestals and More line #1430 (11 1/2 x 13 1/2 x 1 3/4)

The Cabriole Foot is a handsome piece that offers the perfect compliment to both the Pedestal Center and the Extended Pedestal Center. However, this leg isn't restricted by the obvious application. Consider the possibilities for halltree, folding top table, and other designs.
These come pre-drilled with two holes for mounting with our bolt sets (sold separately) - two required per cabriole foot.

Cannonball

Cannonball, from the Pedestals and More line #2000 (39 x 4)

Back by popular demand, the Cannonball Bed Post is available in two sizes. Most people will use this post for the foot of the bed, with the taller version at the head. Another technique is to have all four bed posts the same height. This is based on individual preference.

Mirror Top Finial

Mirror Top Finial, from the Pedestals and More line #3006 (2 3/8 x 1 3/4)

Thinking back to Colonial days, one has to be reminded of the little round finials that adorned the signs which hung outside the mercantile shops in the townships. Those little balls with a little turned base have been used in so many different areas of design. Whether used as a sentinel guarding the four corners of a bookcase or flanking a decorative mirror, the Mirror Top Finial is 'tops' for use on your next project.

Shaker Finial

Shaker Finial, from the Pedestals and More line #3005 (4 1/2 x 1 3/4)

I have to tell you, when I first got a look at this finial my initial thought was, "What happened to the rest of the chair?" because when you look at this finial it reminds you of the very top of a Shaker ladder-back chair. I have always been a fan of the simplistic but highly functional Shaker furniture, and this little finial gives me pause to think back on some of the lovely pieces I have encountered at Shaker Village. Just as fine jewelry makes the outfit, this little finial can make your piece complete.

Heritage

Heritage, from the Pedestals and More line #3003 (6 x 2)

When I see the Heritage Finial, it takes me back to my childhood. It reminds me of the top of the bed post that my sister had as a youngster, on her little off-white bed. Those simple lines with the little ball on top always take me back to a simpler time. It is difficult to put into words what this little piece of Americana conjures up in the mind. It is a truly colonial design (dating back to the original 13 colonies). This one is a 'keeper,' for sure.

Tavern

Tavern, from the Pedestals and More line #1400 (29 x 2)

With a 2" square, the Tavern is a slender design. The turning is simple, yet elegant as the profile is mirrored from the center. The turned foot completes the Tavern and offers its definitive style.

Grand Tavern

Grand Tavern, from the Pedestals and More line #1401 (29 x 2 3/4)

This variation of the Tavern is turned out of a larger 2 3/4" square. All the element of the original are here with the advantage that this leg can be more easily applied to larger tables, and applications that the original might be too small for.
