Dad’s table and Bun Foot Addition

Filed under: Daily Life at Osborne — Mary Beth @ 4:08 pm

Well, Dad just recently got the conference room table done! It looks AWESOME! Its not perfect… but that’s ok… it took a lot of work! Over the weekend he was sanding it because the stuff that was put on it (not stain but some other sort of thing which I don’t know what it is. I must find some more intelligent person who knows more than me to get its name)

But here’s a picture of the finished table.

GACK! It won’t work! Oh well… this picture is of the center of the table… and it has our logo on it… but its all blurry and the picture is no good either. *sigh* Oh well. Its pretty. And it was carved in there by our C&C router.

We’re also having an addition built, because we have outgrown our shipping department and storage space for turned turnings. Its looking… rather odd right now. But that’s the early stages of the building for ya! Can’t wait until its done. Jonathan, being the kind, loving, brother he is, cannot wait to get me my own section in shipping to box and pull all the bun feet. I may never get to box a leg again! And boy, does that sound weird! I like boxing legs, they’re easier in a way because you know right off how many go in a box and by the size of the leg and quantity you get the particular box and the amount. But with the bun feet we have 3 size boxes (except if you include half dowels, which I don’t because they’re an instrument of torture, I mean, umm… a challenge to the mind to box it correctly. ;-) hehe. They are very pretty and all… just a challenge to box. By the way, I think the rope ones are the most beautiful.) So you have an amount of bun feet and have to figure out, ok, does this fit in the smallest box, if I turn it a certain way will they all fit… and its constantly changing. Of course, I would get tired of boxing legs if I had to do it all the time. I got to box them today which was a rare treat cause I box bun feet so much.

Open House at Osborne

Filed under: Daily Life at Osborne, Osborne in the community — Mary Beth @ 3:52 pm

Hello!

Well, today has been eventful. We had an Open House at the shop for the Chamber of Commerce! The whole shop was spic and span (which looks really good) and they all met in the conference room at 11:00am. Dad announced that I was his daughter (proud father there… what are we going to do? Haha) and that I’d be taking pictures.

Well… after a while I was in the hallway with 5 other people, because the room was full. W-O-W!

They toured the shop and then had goodies. It was pretty cool.

Wow! I am going to have to get my lovely brother Matthew to show me how to get pictures up on here… because I think they have to be on a website before they can be posted on this blog… and I haven’t the foggiest notion how to do that. But Matthew does. :-)

Jonathan, my brother and one of the head guys in shipping, cannot wait until I turn 18 in October. Then I can use machines… such as one of the sanders so he doesn’t have to sand half dowels for me. :-D They’re such a pain to sand by hand… but normally they aren’t too bad. WHEW! I spent about half an hour today sanding 6 of the 96-inch half dowels! I don’t know how long it will take when I have the run of the sander… but I bet it will go MUCH faster! :-D

Christian is using the CNC router to imprint our logo on to a table top for our conference room. Its looking pretty awesome! I can’t wait to see it when its done!

We have some cute new products coming out… and yes, I can use cute cause I’m a girl. :-) haha. I’ll get pictures up here as soon as I learn how to do it…

Hello blogging world!

Filed under: Daily Life at Osborne — Mary Beth @ 3:40 pm

I’m Mary Beth and my dad is the owner of Osborne Wood Products, Inc. So I’ve been around the business a pretty long time. :-D I’m pretty proud of Osborne Wood Products, Inc.  My dad’s goal is for us to be tools of the Lord Jesus Christ. And pretty much everyone here in the company agrees with that. It is so awesome working with people who are out to help each other out, and serve the Lord Jesus. I’ve been “working” here since I was knee high to a grass hopper (stuffing catalogs, 100 for a gum pop or 25 cents. Haha, sorry, I don’t work that cheap any more. :-D amazing what 10 years can do to a person.) and the people are always a joy to work with. :-)

Well, the latest going on here is our corbel addition. Whew! We keep expanding and expanding it seems like! The Lord has blessed our business a ton! My dad just got back from a trip to a company we are thinking of buying corbels from, and they are HAND CARVED! For real! I think that is the coolest thing!

I’ll get pictures up here as soon as I can. But first I have to figure out how to do it…

Have a great day! And God bless!

Mary Beth
