Instructions:
Step 1
If ordering a table base kit from Osborne, all skirt boards will already have pocket holes, mortise and tenons. We ordered a three-sided custom kit for this project. Attachment hardware will also be included.
Step 2
First, assemble your base. We recommend dry fitting all pieces prior to securing them together. To secure the base, apply a small amount of glue (optional) inside your mortise on the legs and insert your skirt boards. Screw in your skirt boards and attach corner blocks with included hardware.
Step 3
If you would like to install a wire management grommet like we did, purchase this item and use a tape measure to determine where you would like it to be placed on the tabletop. We measured the halfway point of the top’s width and then made a mark two inches in from the edge. This designated where the center of the wire management grommet will go.
Clamp the table top to the table.
Create a pilot hole where the center of the grommet will be placed.
Drill a 2” diameter hole into the table top. Ensure the grommet fits before moving on to the next step.
Step 4
Flip the tabletop upside down and place the assembled base upside down on top of it.
Step 5
Use a long clamp to make sure the side skirt boards are square with the table top and measure the distance in order to create a nailer board (if desired). The nailer board should be the same distance from each outer edge of the side skirt boards, and the same height.
Step 6
Attach the table base to the table top using the pocket holes and included screws.
Step 7
Install the back nailer board, using a clamp to keep it in place while using the pocket holes in the ends of the side skirt boards to attach it.
Step 8
Apply the finish of your choice to the assembly.
Step 9
To attach this desk to the wall, use a stud finder to locate and mark the location of the wall studs.
Step 10
Use the back nailer board and apply two screws through the nailer board and the wall per stud. It is important to use a screw of the proper length that will grab into the wall stud effectively.
Step 11
Re-insert the cable management grommet and your desk is ready to go!
