Osborne Brackets Support a Wall-Long Master Bedroom Shelf

Our friend Carol up in Lewes, DE, shared her latest project using the Traditional Bracket (Part #8727). Notice how the spacing of the brackets along the length of the full wall seems to expand the size of the room, as it stretches from one wall to the opposite wall. What a clever way to not only support a shelf but visually enlarge the space at the same time.

Each bracket was painted to match not only the shelf that it supports but the wall behind the bracket as well. It all blends to create a uniform and pleasing expanse, with 8 points of visual interest to draw the eye. In most cases, brackets don’t have to be quite as close together to support a shelf or heavy counter top. Notice that the spacing of each of the eight brackets is half way between the vertical boards on the lower wall decorations, which creates a pleasing balance of placement and just makes the whole wall come together. And the contrasting dark background of the upper wall is the perfect counterpoint for the lower wall.
