Rope Custom Kitchen Hutch

Kitchens are considered by many to be the “heart” of the home. It is where families have traditionally gathered together around a warm meal and told stories about their days, discussed important things, and shared laughter and sometimes tears. Being such a pivotal room, how could you not fill it with your own personal touch and unique style?

Linda and Brian from Florida have this exact sentiment. They wanted to build a custom kitchen wall hutch, and when they saw Osborne’s Contemporary Rope Island Posts (part #1483) they knew they would be perfect. At 3.5″W, the legs provide plenty of stability for the 6′ x 2′ butcher block counter top. The top and bottom block allow for both the top counter and a bottom shelf that gives extra storage room. Additionally, the twisted ropes add a beautiful detail that make the kitchen hutch entirely their own. To finish off the piece, an upper shelf was added with a matching guard rail to hold spices and cooking utensils, and the wooden slat storage shelves below create a totally freestanding hutch. Behind the center of the back-splash is a mounted power strip for appliances. To finish it off, it was stained a simple honey maple and given three coats of Poly clear-coat for an elegant, glossy look. This custom hutch proves that stunning style does not mean you can’t also have high functionality in your furniture pieces!
