Materials needed:
Slotted Insert Shelf (Part #8917)
Screws
Sanding Tools
Tape measure
Writing Utensil
Drill
Drill bit smaller than the screws
Instructions:
Step 1
The slotted insert shelf will come with everything you need to create a DIY floating shelf. This shelf can be further customized by chamfering the edges or adding a display case to the top.
Step 2
Sand and finish the shelf according to your preferences.
Step 3
Use a tape measure to measure the wall where your shelf will be installed.
Step 4
Determine how high you would like the shelf to sit on the wall. Make reference marks with a writing utensil.
Step 5
Mark the center point of the wall, as well as the center point of your shelf insert (the smaller included piece that has a level).
Step 6
Hold the insert on the wall, using the incorporated level as a guide to keep the assembly straight. Use a drill & the existing holes to predrill prior to inserting the screws.
Step 7
Attach the shelf insert to the wall with the included screws.
Step 8
Place the shelf over the insert, and then connect the two pieces by attaching screws in the pre-drilled holes on the bottom of the shelf.
