Matching Blackjack and Poker Table using Osborne Table Legs

Casey D. of Arizona gives us a sneak peek into his new and improved “man cave.” Casey started with an order of the Four Sided Tapered Dining Table Legs (Part #1180) to create a custom blackjack table. The table turned out so well Casey ordered 8 of our Two Sided Tapered Dining Table Legs (Part #1182) to create a matching poker table. Here is Casey’s story:

“When two of my older kids moved out, I decided to turn some extra space into a man cave. It is a small formal dining area next to the formal living room in the house. We had always had our pool table in the formal living room, so I decided that I wanted to build a blackjack and poker table to fill out the game room. Twice a month I host a home game where we have blackjack and poker tournaments.

I built the blackjack table first using a blackjack felt that was given to me by a casino gaming director at a Vegas Hotel/Casino. I designed the blackjack table to match the colors of the pool table, that is: dark mahogany stain on the bottom and the tapered legs (my first order from Osborne). The red felt matches the red felt on the pool table.

That project turned out so well, I decided to build a better poker table for the room also. Again, the design inspiration was to match the pool table and I used sets of four Osborne table legs ( 8 total) that were tapered on just two sides to comprise the beefier sets of legs for the poker table. I made the feet out of 4×4 stock from the home center, and again stained the bottom of the table dark mahogany to match the other furniture, and the top of the poker table and cup holders were clear coated maple to match the bumper rail around the pool table. The poker table was made with cup holders mounted under the table on drawer slides to eliminate drinks spilled on the playing surface.The poker table and blackjack table also have the same brown vinyl on the padded rails to tie them together.

I also built a storage box for all my poker chips, cards and supplies that has a padded lid made out of the same material as the pool table and poker table covers. It fits neatly under the pool table to maximize storage space in the room.

After I retired from the Army, I have used my interest in woodworking to start a company called Kennedy’s Custom Woodworking. I have made custom furniture mostly for friends and family for the last few years, but have plans to make it a full time endeavor when I retire from my current job. Recently, I have made more custom poker tables for my poker buddies than anything.”
