Assembly Instructions

Overall Dimensions: 19 ½” x 18 ⅞” x 44 ¼”

Materials Used:

Tools Needed:
  • Saw

  • Router and bit

  • Ruler or carpenter square

  • Writing utensil

  • Tape measure

  • Clamps

  • Pocket hole jig

  • Finish nailer

  • Wood glue

  • Screws

Instructions:

  1. Cut your plywood to size

  2. Take your leg and hold a board up against the side of the top square at the angle you would like for your podium top to be. Scribe a line from the top back of the square to the edge of what will be the front of your square

  3. Cut that piece off of your leg

  4. Quarter notch the entire length of your leg or request it be done by Osborne.
    1. Extend your fence with a temporary fence if needed

  5. Lay your carpenter square on the edge of your plywood and use the angle you created for your leg along with the square to mark a cut line on the plywood

  6. Cut that angled edge and use that piece to scribe and cut the next piece. You’ll need two side pieces with that angled top.

  7. Once you figure out the size you would like your top to be, cut the wood to length and join and rip your pieces to width

  8. Ensure all of your pieces have sufficient glue coverage and adequate pressure from your clamps

  9. While your top is drying, take your side and back panels. Using a router, cut a ¼” dado across the width of the inside, which is where you will place your shelf.

  10. Create pocket holes across the inside of the top of your back and side panels. This will make it easy to attach your top.

  11. Take your back & side panels and your shelf, apply a bead of glue to them, and assemble your casing with your shelf using a finish nailer.

  12. Attach a fascia board along the front edge of your podium casing where you will attach the legs.

  13. Using screws, attach your legs to the front of your podium

  14. Cut and trim your top to size, then sand your top and attach a bumper towards the bottom to be able to hold books, papers, etc.

  15. Now apply your finish to all pieces of your podium.

  16. Finally, attach your top to the casing with screws.
