Steel stabilizers are attached to the underside of a table top, counter to the direction of the wood. They prevent wood warping, washboarding, cupping and gapping over time as the moisture in the wood changes. Stabilizer bars fits into a recessed groove created by custom router bit (Part #989) or CNC milling tool (Part #988). There are six elongated attachment openings on the stabilizer where screws attach the stabilizer to the underside of the table top. Since these holes are longer, the table top can freely move throughout the length of the opening as the wood changes.
Please note that attachment screws are not included. The manufacturer recommends using wood screws. The center hole should be tight and the other attachment areas should be snug but not over tightened. We offer this stabilizer bar in 12 different lengths so that you can choose the one most suitable for your table build. Each bar will be 2 3/8" wide with a 5/8" depth.
