Customer's Beautiful Table Repaired and Extended
There is nothing better than the excitement of a finished project and a job well done. Today, I want to feature a story from Ozzie T. of Canada. Ozzie spoke with a customer service representative at Osborne Wood Products to order a pair of the standard 40″ Table Slide with a 100″ opening (Part #9060). And here is how Ozzie used them:
“It all started back in 1987 when we went to pick up a love seat. It wasn’t in the store so we had to go to the warehouse. Against a wall in the warehouse was a rosewood (that’s right, Dalbergia Nigra) veneered table, perhaps made in Oslo, Norway, with three leaves for an overall length of 12 ft. when extended. We didn’t know that Brazilian Rosewood was endangered (we would have let someone else enjoy it), only that it was both valuable and beautiful. We couldn’t pass on that, especially since it was at a very good price. Only hang-up was that it came without any undercarriage at all. That’s OK, Oz can make a base for it. Which he did. Only problem was getting slides large enough. So we contented ourselves with 2 leaves max until recently when one of the legs broke. So we designed and built a much stronger and more stable base. My wife had the idea that now that we had a stable base we should look for longer slides. I said that Osborne Wood Products were the only people that I was aware of that made anything with that kind of capacity.”
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Ozzie! And for choosing Osborne to complete your table project. I’m sure you will enjoy this beautiful piece for years to come.
Do you have a dining table with leaves that you would love to extend to its full size? There’s no better time to make that happen than in time for the holidays! Be sure to take a look at the wide selection of standard table slides and equalizing table slides (for pedestal and fixed based tables) available at Osborne Wood Products. We also offer a hybrid design with our standard equalizer table slides. These are ideal for 5-legged tables.
