Builder's Studio: Pipe Shelf Brackets
Welcome back to the Builder's Studio! In this episode, we show you a step by step tutorial on how to create DIY Pipe Shelves using our Pipe Shelf Brackets (Part #8703)! These easy to use brackets come in a set of two and are available in both Flat Black and Brushed Copper finishes. The brackets can be used with a wide range of shelving dimensions and add a beautiful industrial look once installed.
Assembly Instructions
Included:
- Two pipe shelf brackets (pre-assembled and ready to be attached)
- Installation screws and anchors *please note that the size of the screw may need to be adjusted depending on the thickness of your shelf. We obtained shorter screws for this specific project.
You will need:
- Finished shelf surfaces (we used 1x6 lumber for this example project)
- Level & tape measure (optional)
- Writing utensil
- Drill and drill bits
Instructions:
- Lay out your shelf surfaces with the top facing down. Please note that you can orient the shelf brackets however you prefer based on the width of your shelf.
- We used a magnetic level to hold the bracket flush with the back of the shelf that will sit against the wall. Position the bracket according to the spacing you prefer (we placed ours 6” in from the outer edge).
- Use the pre drilled holes in the bracket to mark where the screws will be installed. It is recommended to predrill your screw holes to prevent any splitting or cracking of the wood with a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the screw itself.
- Screw the bracket onto the bottom of the shelf.
- Repeat steps 2-4 with the second bracket.
- Place the shelf assembly on the wall where you would like to install it. Place the level on top and mark the screw holes that are already pre made on the bracket with a pencil.
- Use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the anchors provided and drill each spot that was marked in the last step.
- Take the anchor and insert them into the wall using your hand.
- Place the shelf assembly back on the wall and line it up with the anchors. Attach both brackets to the wall with the included screws.
